The Hancock Deposit Bank, chartered in 1888, was the first
banking establishment in Hancock County Kentucky. The first
financial statement of Hancock Deposit Bank on December 31,
1888 showed total resources of $45,513.
The Hawesville Bank was chartered in 1904 and merged with
Hancock Deposit Bank in 1917 to become the Hawesville
Deposit Bank. In 1967 the name was changed to Hancock Bank
and Trust Company.
Hancock Bancorp Inc. was formed as a holding company on
September 3, 1987 and became the full owner of Hancock Bank
& Trust Company with offices located in Hawesville and
Lewisport, Kentucky. In 1988 Hancock Bancorp also acquired
Breckinridge Bank, located in Cloverport and Stephensport,
Kentucky. On January 1, 2005 the two banks were merged
bringing the resources of the organization to well over $150
million.
As we approach our 120th anniversary, Hancock Bank & Trust
Company is very proud of our long history and strong growth.
We look forward with anticipation to what the next 120 years
will bring.
